Golan heights was part of Syria but was taken over by Israel after the War in 1973 I believe.

To make sure you're not using Google to get these answers I'll ask a more complicated question. What Middle Eastern country was at the forefront of the anti-Israeli movement until the 70s? Who was the leader of this country? What act angered the other Middle Eastern states to the point that it lost this status?

I belive you are refering to Sadat and the Peace Treaty signed with Israel that led to Egypt being the first Arab State to recognise Israel. It also led to Sadats assasination, ofcourse.
