Anyways, Samuel Johnson believed that the meaning of words should be defined by how it is commonly used by its users, not a strict and prescriptive definition.

So the grammer police can stop being nit-picky, "could careless" and "period" are all good since a large group of people use it. Although I do find "period" rather annoying, its all good and no one can stop the evolution of language.

I am not a grammar policeman, but I am a from the department of correct spelling. When you don't copy and paste, please check your spelling. It is grammAr and not grammer, which I found quite funny from someone who is trying to justify certain words.

One phrase/error I detest is 'would of'.

'If the fight had been a 12-rounder, Smith would of knocked him out'. You see it everyday around here. Even posters that normally has great command of the english language, routinely make this error.

How can people even make it wrong? Would of does not make any sense.
