[PLEASE HELP] I have an $80 water bill...

Its normally like $25. Something is obviously wrong as we haven't been using any more water than usual and that is an enormous increase. I don't have any wet walls or running water in the toilets. I checked all the outside nozzels.

It really doesn't seem like there is a busted pipe in the house, I think I would know. It doesn't seem like any facet inside or outside the house is running. Leave me to believe there might be a busted pipe outside the house. I live in an townhouse, am I responsible for pipes busted outside the house or is the HOA?

maybe you shower daily now instead of once a week before?

No idea but I'd certainly call the water company if I was my rates triple in price.

                OK, I did some researching.

We were using 3 thousand gallons for the past few months and were paying $30-35 a month. This last email says we used 5 thousand and the bill was for $88.90. I went outside and checked the box, it doesn't show any water being used, so it's not a leak. We called the water department and they are closed on Friday, but my father in law seems to think they just made a mistake. We will wait until we receive the actual paper bill in the mail.

Last month the email said we used 4k gallons at $39. This months email says 5k at $88.90. How can the first 4k gallons cost $39, but the last 1k cost $50? Either water just became crazy expensive this month or they messed up. Even on a sliding scale, the last 1k gallons can't be worth more than the first 4k.
