The guy would still be charged in Canada, they have more rights for self defense in America than we do here. This is off topic but do you know a legal firearm owner in Canada is not allowed to use their firearms for home defense against intruders? If you decide to use it anyway you will be charged with firearms offences and lose your weapons. Some of the laws here are ridiculous when it comes to defending yourself.

I dont think you have to let them beat you down but if you have the chance to get away from them you are supposed to take it but thats bull **** because ive always been told not to turn your back on an attacker. If you do have to fight they say you cant use excessive force and all that ****. About the firearms thing, you cant even say you want it for home defense when you apply or you will be denied, you have want it for target shooting or as a collector.

you are far more likely to hurt a family member or a friend or even yourself than to defend yourself from robbers, intruders etc.

You know a old trick people used to do was to invite someone you wanted to kill to your home, kill them and maybe put a knife or a gun on their body and or break your lock to make it look like a home invasion.
That is far more likely to happen then you "defending" yourself.
Not to talk about all the hasty suicides that would never happen if they didn't have the gun at home.
Some depressed, drunk dad killing his whole family cus he had the guns to make that nightmare a reality.

I dont really agree with that but its your opinion, people who have mental issues and want to harm somebody will do so whether they have a gun or not and its just as easy to invite somebody to your house and stab them to death as it is to shoot them. There are alot of illegal guns on the streets and if you get home invaded there is a good chance the intruders will have guns and if you dont you are at a serious disadvantage in your own home. Most gun crimes are commited by illegal gun owners not the people with legal registered guns. I know in Canada most people with a firearms license are very careful about their practices because they dont want to lose the privilege but the illegal owners are more often than not the ones you speak of, its not the gun that is the problem its the person who possesses it.
