That's all I said and dude started flipping out, calling me a racist and trying to engage into a fight and that I had no right to say "black dude". He had to be taken out of the bar and I tried telling him I didn't mean anything with that comment but the guy wasn't having it. I'm Mexican by the way, and I'm by no means racist at all and wouldn't have cared if somebody said "that Mexican dude". I don't wanna say the typical "I'm not racist I got black friends, ect.", but being called racist bothered me. Did y'all think I was out of line?

I wouldn't refer to a black man as a "black dude" because that is not the proper way of saying it. Using an example of "I would not be bothered to be called a Mexican dude" it's not the same as being called a black dude, what would compare to being called a Mexican dude is an "American dude", him saying "Are you leaving with that Hispanic dude or coming with us to the after party" would equal to what you said. Also you should factor in the tone you said it in. Maybe he felt you were trying tell the girl to "forget about the black dude and come with us!".
some times your tone of voice and wording may trigger people to misinterpret you.
Anyway, "black dude" I can't picture me saying that. That's very unproper, unless i'm looking to piss of some black guy.
