Consumer Reports study ranks the iPhone carrier last in overall satisfaction.
December 6, 2010
AT&T is the worst cell-phone carrier in the United States, or at least that is what a study published by Consumer Reports says.
According to a survey of 58,000 readers, AT&T ranks the lowest of all major carriers in overall satisfaction, falling drastically since last year. The detailed report will be released tomorrow, December 7, however, the company preemptively announced AT&T's standing this afternoon, and offered some additional analysis.
The company says that over half of AT&T users surveyed used an iPhone, and that compared to other smartphone owners, iPhone users were significantly less satisfied with their service.
Topping the list is U.S. Cellular, a smaller carrier that serves 26 states in the South and Midwest, which overtook Verizon Wireless as the highest rated contract service provider. Interestingly, Sprint, which had fallen in overall rankings in previous years, managed to rank even with Verizon, the survey's longstanding top-rated provider. Sprint also managed to top Verizon in "some aspects" of customer service.
