Hopefully they use it wisely, like get young players in their 20s who are consistent.
Pitching's the name of the game if they get rid of that Arod contract they should invest in starting pitching and strengthen their bullpen. Losing Cano won't make that much of a difference in terms of their World Series chances.

I can see why Cano is mad that Ellsbury is getting $21M a year and feels it's disrespect, he is indeed far better than Ellsbury, especially in producing more runs. Sure JE will get on base a lot which = more runs scored. But who's gonna drive in Ellsbury? The weak batting line up we had all year, that left a million men on base? McCann is gonna single handily change all of that? Granderson and Cano are gone, two of the biggest power bats. So they go Texixeira, McCann, Gardner who's another high on base player and base stealer like Ellsbury, an old Jeter, old Soriano, old Ichiro.
With Granderson and Cano gone, scoring runs is going to be even harder for us next year. I hope A-Rod loses his case, not paying his contract will really help out.

I'm gonna miss Robby. I remember when he first started playing for the Yankees and he was the only unknown on a team of stars. Crazy that he just got a 10 year, 240 million dollar contract. I wish he would've stayed, the Yankees offer was just as good for less years. Look at Pujols though, the Yanks made the smart and probably hard decision.

Crazy how we get a good bat in the Catcher's spot, but lose a huge bat from 2nd and outfield. Gained 1, lost 2.

The Mariners have seen attendance go from over 3 mill to under 2 mill in less than 10 years...they needed to do something to bring the fans back. And if they get Price....they'll have a helluva pitching staff.

Cano's numbers will go way down in the big park, playing in a major league park instead of a minor league bandbox, which is what the "new" Yankee Stadium is.

If can see not signing Cano was smart (especially turning away from 10 freaking years) but how did signing Ellsbury really help a team desperate for pitching? OK, if they sign that crazy Aussie in Oakland they will have a closer...but they passed on Nathan which was strange.

Let's see how it all plays out...meanwhile if the Red Sux sign Napoli they will be way ahead of the crowd in the East.

They could have signed Brian Wilson as well but they wanted him to shave the beard. Pathetic if you ask me he would have been a great replacement for Mariano.

Joe Nathan is 40 years old. How are they gonna lose a 40 year old closer and sign another 40 year old. Might as well resign Rivera. 2.11 ERA, 54 strikeouts in 64 IP's, 6 HR's allowed at 43 and a half years old and that was considered a terrible year for him because of the blown saves, I think 7 or 8.

It's a Yankee tradition/policy to have no facial hair below the lip. Greats like Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Ruth, Berra, Munson, Rivera, Jeter, ****ey, Rizzuto along with many other greats abided by this tradition. Wilson who? He can f-ck off with his bum ass beard.

People actually watch baseball? Oh god, what an atrociously boring sport.

I'm well aware of their policy I think it's time for them to get over it as it doesn't make them better ball players. All those greats you mentioned also played at Yankee stadium aka the house that Ruth built yet they still knocked that down. All I'm saying not many proven closers out there and I doubt they get anyone as good as Wilson closing games for them in the coming years over a silly policy.
