....They don't have to trade him and they don't have to renegotiate either. The Eagles will not give him what he wants as far as his contract is concerned. He will be fined and docked money all year long. Conduct detrimental to the team is in his contract and could get him fined up to 1.75 million. I just read an article that said that the best Owens could hope for is for the Eagles to tell him that they will trade him next year. The contract is not renegotiated and he has the chance to earn a big contract with another sucker that is willing to pay for his services. Owens would then shut up and produce in order to try and get that contract with another suitor next season.

I'm pretty sure that if he sits out, not only would he not get paid for this season but he'd lose a nice chunk of his signing bonus. Or maybe that's what you were getting at.

Couldn't you just see TO faking an injury and refusing to play while still collecting his check.

The thing is with TO, he knows he has the power. He knows what that team was without and with him(Superbowl team). Owens definately has the upper hand here.

Before TO the team made it to the NFC championship game 3 years in a row. And last year they made it to the Super Bowl without TO who was injured for the last 2 or 3 regular season games and the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. he didn't make it back until the Big game so your assumption is incorrect.

No, Eagles never reached the Superbowl level or play as well as they did last year with TO. You must admit that. TO's never been to that level, but he can surely go to the Pats if he wants. Eagle owner's know that. TO has the upperhand if they want to maintain being a Superbowl team instead of a playoff team.

But the fans' perception is important here. If they let TO sit out and they don't win the big game then people will blame the ownership and management for not working something out. Especially in a place like Philly where they have been waiting for these guys to break through for so long, people will call for blood if something doesn't happen this year, and if the TO situation gets ugly those reponsible for making it happen will be blamed, whether it is right or not.

I agree that it if TO wants to sit out then it might be fun to tell him to **** off and make him lose a bunch of money, but realistically the Eagles can't do that. It's a bull**** situation, but the fact is that TO has the upper hand here.

No... Philadelphia fans are the dumbest in the world. They booed Kobe when he came back. They booed the NBA all star game a couple of years back. They booed when McNabb was drafted. The booed him the first year.

Theyve done a lot of ****** stuff, can somebody help me out with the things these Philly fans have done?

They are known as the dumbest/most rowdy fans in the country.

You are wrong. If you want to learn you really need to listen more and talk/type less. TO can't do **** except play or sit out. The eagles made it exactly one game farther last year than the previous 3, and they did it without TO on the field.

You might be right, but imo you cannot rely on a player to do well purely for selfish reason. We had the same thing happen here with the local NHL team where they forced a guy to come back for a while who wanted out. And the thing is that he did do all right in the regular season, but as soon as the playoffs rolled around he disappeared. What I mean is that they will put up numbers that their agent can use when they work on their next contract, but once the regular season is over it's more about winning for the team than padding your stats, and their motivation goes out the window.

Plus TO knows that he could do **** this year and still land a big deal once his contract is up. He is already an established superstar and with 32 teams there is bound to be at least a few that will pay him goofy dollars to go play for them.

Did the Eagles do to the Superbowl without TO. No. I proved my point. Thank you.

(It was so bad, they made/allowed their franchise player rush back to the field to play in the Superbowl game. Can you say desperate?)
