          .
Troy was a Hellenic city. So it is inaccurate to say the "Greeks" captured it because the Trojans were Greek. The Athenians, the Spartans? Troy was supposedly the most powerfull Hellenic city on the coast of Asia Minor. So it is inaccurate to say the "Greeks" captured it because the Trojans were Greek. Sparta and Athens are where current day Greece is in the Ionian Penninsula. The Ionian Penninsula is considered the cradle of Hellenic civilization but it (Hellenic Civilization) was preminant in most of what it is today Turkey and much of the entire mediteranean and middle east at one time.
