What's your take on the shooting death of Jean Charles de Menezes?

Just wondering what people think here. Was this shooting an excusable mistake in an age of terrorism or was it bull**** cowboy tactics resulting in the needless death of an innocent man?

I'm not very familiar with the specific's of how it went down but if what they say is true about him not responding when the asked him to stop is true, that coupled with suspision of straping a bomb to your chest is cause for bustin a cap. Something tells me they had no evidence that the man had a bomb or weapon, and they shot to early because they were nervous. just some thoughts.

Yes, but think about this, if you were in a big city such as London and three plainclothes dudes started coming at you, how would you react? We don't know for sure if these cops identified themselves properly. It could be he thought they were muggers or something and that's why he ran. Or else it was just a panic instinct. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue either position right now, just wanted to point that out.

He was living in the same apartment block as a guy they were tailing, but otherwise had no connection to the guy...just a coincidence. The wires in the pockets thing had to do with one of the bombers the day before, and had nothing to do with this case.

I think that the *********s score a big victory when the authorities start freaking out and killing innocent people.
The guy shouldnt have been killed because he was not a *********, but I dont know why he was running (if he was actually running as they say).
Also, why is it that right after this occured I was hearing all these reports from London that this incident and the guy were directly connected to the investigation into the bombings, and then I hear a day later that the guy was just some random guy that had nothing to do with the bombings? WTF is that? Why would they say something like "this was directly involved in the investigation" when that was not the case?
