Why don't they ban guns in the usa?

If I understand correctly, people in the U.S do not understand the second ammendment.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The right to bear arms is to protect the country from invaders. Not for your personal protection.

You can look at Invaders in a lot of different ways,like i said in my post banning guns will only make sure that the criminals are the only ones that have them.I believe guns are illegal in mexico that does not seem to be working out for them very well.

Plus what people usually fail to mention is most guns outside of rifles and *******s have to be registered meaning you go out and shoot someone with your handgun the bullets will be traced back to you.

I've actually changed my view on America's gun policy in the last year or so.

I mean it's not ideal, but there is no ideal way to solve problems like that. Take a look at the knife crime situation in Britain, politicians can't seem to understand why ANYONE would be carrying a knife.

But that's easy for them to say, they don't live in the violent areas of Britain where you can be stabbed to death for next to no reason. If you have a knife yourself at least you have a much better chance of defending yourself against someone trying to stab you by using yours. So I can see why people feel safer carrying a knife in Britain, it doesn't always mean they're part of a gang, like popular opinion seems to be.

That's a pretty controversial opinion to have in the UK, to sympathise with knife carriers, but I think it's the same kind of thing as the USA, except they're illegal to carry.

But what can the UK do? Make knives completely illegal? It's impossible and ridiculous.

In my opinions the United States is too big a country to outlaw guns. It works in Europe with all these small countries. Texas is bigger than a lot of European countries.

Very good post.The first thing i was taught as a child about guns was gun safety to only use in times of self defense or protecting your family,most of the ******** out there think we act like cowboys or gangsters with guns hanging out are pants ,most gun owners are good law abiding people.

First permits, then registration (which we already have in most states) then confiscation by one of *****'s National Civilian Security Force.
