    Championships

As some of you know, my daughter is on her high school flag team. Sat. night was their championships. And it was awful and wonderful at the same time. It's exciting for the girls because they are a good team and they showed it tonight like no other competition that they've been to.

    And the music died.

That is the biggest nightmare of any team out there on the floor. It's worse than tripping, falling or dropping a flag.

Then we heard one strong voice counting out and you saw the whole team keep going. When the first voice gave out, another picked up, and so on. They performed like a great team. They completed their show, rolled up that 300 pound vinyl floor, hauled it outside, dropped it, huddled together like a bunch of football players and cried. Their instructor jumped into the huddle and made them laugh and realize how well they handled that problem. They may not have won gold, but they gave a gold medal performance.

That one strong voice that started it all? My daughter. I am so proud of her and the team for how well they came together. Later, Ashes told me that she knew what to do in part of the training they get, but also because one time, I mentioned to her about how I had seen a team whose music died and how they just kept going. A lot of teams panic and quit. Not our girls.

The audience also helped the team by cheering for them periodically thru the show. Other then in MMA and on my kids' swim team, I've never seen sportsmanship like I saw tonight.

They finished 12th out of 17. Their best score ever of a 74.7 and by far, the most amazing performance I've ever seen.

Thanks for letting me brag a bit. I'm so impressed with these ladies. And to think that one of them is my daughter. She just amazes me sometimes.

LOL!!! Considering what the team has been thru this year, they did good. I'm very proud of them. Most teams just give up.

Good to hear MCM. My ex was in the syncro-swim team and one time the music stopped. They all freaked and stopped looking at each other like they had no idea what to do. One of the other girls boyfriend started to sing the song all and they got the hint. But they still did ****ty since they froze and just looked around for a while.

They where not that good anyways, but good for you and your girl.
