Robots already used in some surgeries. They will be great weapons for medicine sector. Better than human surgeons.

      • There is a shortage of physicians
      • It is frustrating and degrading to have to interact with a robot, even the currently most advanced ones
      • Already, people on government funded health/dental insurance have to take what they're assigned in terms of who they can see
Put it all together, and soon the people on government funded healthcare won't have the option of seeing a human doctor. They'll have to interact with some creepy A.I. robot.
I believe that the mountain of governmental regulations imposed on medical professionals is driving the shortage. Doctors can get into legal difficulty much easier than in the past. Also, these regulations coupled with insurance red tape and healthcare administrators cutting costs have frustrated doctors and resulted in diminished income. The result is that many educated and intelligent people are pursuing careers in other fields.

The end result is what you mentioned, "people on government funded health/dental insurance have to take what they're assigned in terms of who they can see". Again, it is the law of supply and demand, and it affects the poor the most.
