If you look at the landscape, it becomes clear.

• There is a shortage of physicians
• It is frustrating and degrading to have to interact with a robot, even the currently most advanced ones
• Already, people on government funded health/dental insurance have to take what they're assigned in terms of who they can see

Put it all together, and soon the people on government funded healthcare won't have the option of seeing a human doctor. They'll have to interact with some creepy A.I. robot.

I don't think any single entity is to blame.

My leading culprit is the executives in healthcare. They care about profits only and that has reaching effects.

The origin of the physicians shortage? I'm not too sure, but I'd bet my life it's not due to a shortage of aspiring physicians.

I see situations where a patient gets the wrong treatment and dies, then the robot doctor company blames the hospital, the hospital blames the robot doctor company, and the insurance company says they hold zero liability.

Yeah you definitely don't want people barely scraping through medical school either. But I think plenty of very competent people who would make great doctors are turned away because the quota is full, even though the quota being full still means a shortage of physicians. The quota must be set by people who stand to profit off a lower quota.

Oh yeah I agree there. There are already robotic arms helping surgeons perform surgery more accurately, so there's definitely a place for them.

I was talking more about like those customer support lines you call now and get an AI robot, and you want to talk with a human but all you get is the robot because it's cheaper for the company and it doesn't really "get" your concerns. I'm talking about that, but only you're sick and go to the doctor, but there is no human whatsoever available to you. You get an A.I. humanoid robot to discuss your troubles with, and they don't understand you as a person.
