If the guitarist here ever had to duel with Tommy Emmanuel, the smartest thing he could do is throw his guitar down and run.

But I think you were being facetious when you called it a masterpiece. Right?
Not at all, you know it's a good tune when Tony Soprano is humming it.

Hendrix did not have anything to do with that track, it was all Ernie Isley on guitar.
Jimi only played with them for a short time in the 60's.

I imagine this might be a contender.

As someone who loves guitar orientated music, I find most solos are just guitar wankery. There are of course exceptions

I am sure you have to be somewhat of an eclectic guitarist yourself to judge all guitarists together. I don't think a civilian can do it. A civilian can tell you what most appeals to him, but has no idea of the difficulty level of any genre. That might matter.

                1. Classical guitar is at the top of the difficulty ladder. Nothing else is close to it, to be straightforward. The demands of the music itself are staggering, then you have the demands on your left hand, with the fact that a classical guitar neck is wider.

                2. Jazz is so hard because there is so much to know. It is endless. Jazz is a music lab anything can happen in. It generally uses complex forms and chord structures and sometimes rhythms complex or even poly-rhythms .

                3. Rock fusion is a jazz relative. Country swing is a jazz relative too.

                4. Rock, country, pop,...

                5. Folk, the best starting path.

Some great music is made in each, despite those rankings.

No specific style tbh. I'm more into songs than just one instrument.

Anything from acoustic, pop rock, punk, hardcore and most of the extreme metal subgenres
