i just dont get how people have had a vaccine with 90 percent effective protection (supposedly) for a virus with a 99.8 percent recovery rate and people are still scared.

You can watch videos of random people in the streets and they're asked general questions about CV19 stats and it seems that over 90% don't have a single clue, and that's people from both sides, (R) tend to be a little closer to numbers than (D), but the general population is mostly clueless, and that's done by design.
