Most likely. Others brought up the PED using bodybuilders and baseball players which is/was widespread. This was before our time but I thought of the Black Sox scandal in 1919 where the White Sox were accused of throwing the World Series for money from a crime syndicate.

I'm sure there's lots of athletes that cheated as long as him but didn't do the testing they do in cycling so were never caught. Like Holyfield.............

I tend to agree. He dominated a sport like it had never been dominated before. Turned out he had the highest levels of the sport hiding his cheating, as he was the force behind the booming popularity (and thus money) of cycling. He fooled Hollywood, Presidents and other world leaders, and even alot of fellow athletes. He has the US Postal Service among his major sponsors. He became a national hero. There was talk of him running for Governor of Texas.

Add to that; the way he reacted to charges was the most awful of the steroid users I've seen in all of sports. You would see other athletes storm out of interviews, or curse at the interviewer and things like that, but Armstrong took it to new levels. He literally set out to personally destroy anyone who publicly accused him, and even threatened those who knew the truth and stayed quiet who he feared might talk. He would threaten to destroy their professional lives and smear their private lies. He was vile and viscous, and against those just telling the truth.

Eddy Merckx, dominated cycling to a far higher degree than Lance. And unlike Lance Eddy dominated and won all the three grand tours, not just Le tour

Worst cheat that got caught. They are others that never got caught. Unfortunately in professional sports there will always bee doping in some capacity. Too much money at every angle.

- -OP parents cheated him with the scarecrow's jellied brain. Lance presided over the newly cleaned up tour and everything he did was out in the open unlike the crooked tour bosses. After years of retirement and under attack by the usual sychophants populating any sport, he won a bronze in spite of a painful broken shoulder all while posting his daily drug testing results online for public perusal and commentary. And the Tour sychophants stripped him of that. So he and the fantastically great share their strippages by a vastly inferior gaggle of sychophants...purt fair company to be in.

You know what's kinda funny about that? What happened to Lance has never happened in boxing and I doubt it would any time soon.


Not the cheating bit, but the stripping bit. Can you imagine years after the guy's done retired stripping a champion because we found out as a champion he cheated? We just don't do that. Strip while in office, sure, but years after dude is done? Crazy in our world.

Worse than cheaters in baseball even? Worse than Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire? I don't really care who takes what, BTW.

A lot of people made the argument that steroids can't help you hit a 100 MPH fastball so you still needed the superior hand/eye coordination to hit the ball over the fence in the first place. But, none of them can explain how we went from at least three players who hit near 70 or better homers in a season, to nowhere even close since the steroid scandal of Bonds, McGwire and Sosa.
