I didn't comment on this thread because I don't know enough about the situation. I don't know for sure whether the Professor produced identification or exactly what was said to the officers. I do think it's a pretty trivial matter for the President to be commenting on considering by far the highest unemployment in this country in over fifteen years, by far the highest single year deficit, and our problems in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm also pretty sure he wouldn't have mentioned it if it was a white professor being arrested under similar conditions by black police officers.

But yeah, we're cool man, at least I hope we still are.

The whole thing with Joseph started (well besides him being a total **** to me for as long as I remember) when I asked him what he meant by calling Mangler Clarence Thomas. I knew what he meant, because I know him, but I wanted to hear him say it. He told me to fck off and I said I'd put it in my sig till he gave me an answer. So he makes up a quote, puts my name on it, and sends me tons of PMs harassing me. Looks like it'll be staying there for a while.
Yeah that's cool. Now I have a better understanding why you think the way you do especially from your background living in Africa.

My dad had a principal for the past three years who was from South Africa. From conversations with my dad about him and also talking to him personally a few times, you could tell he wasn't exactly fond of blacks. Reading about South Africa a little myself and watching a few things on TV you could tell why he might feel that way. Race relations seem pretty fu.cked up over there, I mean they aren't far removed away from apartheid (sp?). I can understand why both sides aren't fond of each other.

      I see.
I can see that he made it up, but I would take your word over his any day of the week anyway.

My comment was originally intended to provoke some thoughts into the matter of why we are grasping for slip-ups in how we express ourselves in order to promote and encourage negative perceptions against any person, like the threadstarter are doing against ***** in this case.

In my own head I am thinking in the lines of "That was a poor choice of wording" or "Not the smartest thing to say" when something like that happens.

I am baffled that so few are functioning the same way I am.

My experiences from over there aren't like that at all. I have fond memories of George, a black man who used to cook for the mess (like a house, I guess, but several families living there) that I lived in as a child. Without a mom and my dad being gone, I'm not sure what I'd have done without him. When my dad went to war, he gave him a necklace that would turn bullets into water, sadly George was later killed by his own people while visiting his family. Blacks were always extremely friendly, tipping their hat to you in the street, even stopping their bicycles some times to do so. Later, when I went to a boarding school in Bulawayo, because our farm in Balla Balla (now Mbalabala) was too far, some of my best friends, that I was on the rugby and cross country teams with, were black. Towards the end, my neighbors were attacked and killed, the economy had started to slip, and things started to get bad, but my dad soon shipped me back to the States.

I do that all the time, especially since I usually type a thread quickly and hit send. I have a tendency to lose my temper sometimes and when that happens, I lose 50 IQ points instantly. Thankfully, I'm getting better at controlling it, and if I could just do something about the ADD, I'll be fine.

This is new information for me. Thank you for sharing this

          Haha, you have ADD too?!
I can relate to being bored and rather aggressive as a result quite quickly. It really does hamper the brain power output, no doubt about it.

I've always thought bush was a joke & thought ***** would be better but he's 7 months in his 1st term.give him time...it's funny back in 2002 during bush's state of the union address he warned that the "axis of evil" which is Iran,Iraq, north Korea were ********* supporting regimes bent on acquiring weapons of mass destruction.worldwide scorn came down on him including myself as casting stones at him.we never found any in iraq but in may kim Jong's communist regime of north Korea tested a nuclear bomb the size of the Hiroshima a-bomb.now they are afull-fledged nuclear weapon state & the scary thing is Iran is only a few months away from being a full fledged nuclear state as well.moreover the recent display of brute force by the clerical regime in Iran against unarmed people protesting a fraudulent election has fully disclosed the world it's tyranny nature.in removing Hussein in Iraq bush made certain the world had one less tyranny in the "axis of evil" to deal with after he left office.the world,& especially western democracies, remain nevertheless confused & deliberately unwilling to deal with threats north Korea & Iran pose to their neighbors while holding their populations to ransom.we as anti-bush people may have been wrong about bush.he was right in speaking about the axis of evil & what was required of the UN if it adhered to the principle of collective security.developements in north Korea & Iran have proven that bush's warning in 2002 about these rogue states was consistent with their recent history.most of the world(including myself)vilified bush's actions in Iraq.***** said some dumb things about the police but there are much more important & dangerous concerns in the world than this bs...it's ridiculous the outcry it's caused.2 countries that want westerners dead are gaining nuclear power! That's what ***** should be worrying about not some apology to the police...maybe bush's successor should have been McCain! Time will tell.if the rogue states are fully capable of nuclear weapondry than maybe that December 21,2012 is going to materialize afterall...I hope not

All it takes to materialize December 21, 2012 is someone like the United States' President to fall in love with the idea.
It could be a self fulfilling prophecy due to manifestations in the human mind.

***** is a bit of a cu*t to be honest. I used to like him, but the way he has treated the Cambridge Police Department is disgraceful. Instead of quelling the race argument, he managed to inflame it.

How so? Did he intend to do it?

If the words being used against the President were some something like "Cambridge Police acted silly", how exactly can one take that quote and give it a deeper meaning like fuelling a race argument?

If anything, it could be viewed upon as terrible timing of poor choice of wording. Nothing more.
