We done alright yesterday and chased the win.
But we could just as likely lose to Uruguay as win as we will be open to the counter as a draw would probably put us out as we really need to chase another win.
Tough break.
But we have to 'go' for it again. Rooney needs to be left out unfortunately.
Didn't even look fit and missed what was basically an open goal. He looks like a man burdened by abject failure in tournament footy for England.
Gerrard was pretty bad, too.
Italy were not good at all. Who knows how the rest of the results might turn out.
I just can't see us pulling it off.
Uruguay would be the best team we have beaten competitively since when? Croatia 10 years ago? Or Argentina 12 years ago?
That is the size of the task put into context for me.
But also another bad fact is that teams which lose the first game RARELY go through to the next stage.. it's vitally important to get a result in the first game. That's why the first round of matches are usually pretty ****e and boring because people can't afford to lose
It's not just Uruguay.. Costa Rica can give England problems.. i wouldn't be shocked if Joel Campbell scores another worldy.
Rooney is not right.. but i seriously doubt Hodgson has the bollocks to drop him for a crunch game.. Woy is in a tough situation.. Rooney on form is top quality.. Leave him out and England lose.. he will get slaughtered.. Leave him out and England win.. the guys confidence will be shot.. and he will be no use

People being harsh on Gerrard ithink. He basically did what he was supposed to do, pick the ball up deep and spray it around. If he can get the ball to players like Sterling and Henderson in space (which he did for most the game) then thats his job done
He isnt ever going to be as effective as Pirlo doing it, but it was serviceable.
Our lack of a proper defensive midfielder will hurt us though. Barry should have gone with the team.

Did anyone even notice Gerrard playing FFS?
Even an out of form Carrick deserved a slot

I just can't see Uruguay being as **** as they was last night.
He's got to be bold Roy, but we all know he ain't got the g****fruits. Rooney's got to go he just ain't cut out for the World Cup.
Baines will stay, but Milner will almost definitely start.
