No, he's a deliberately dirty player. A bit like that ginger **** Paul Scholes. The difference is that Paul Scholes spent two decades of studs-up mauling in midfield with commentators laughing about "Ooh he can't really tackle can he?" and referees for some reason believing it. Yeah apparently people think that a professional footballer of some acclaim doesn't actually know how to do a slide tackle without going in studs up at knee height with both feet.

He will be a force in world football. Only wish we'd snapped him up. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Madrid.

I don't remember Scholes ever making a challenge like Gerrard on essien or Lampard on Alonso..

Your just jealous that he is superior to any player city have ever had

              What a strange comment.

Two or three times a game he played in the commentators would laugh about a ridiculous and over-the-top career endangering challenge and say "Oh HO he can't tackle cane he?"

He's the most egregious and least punished player I've ever seen.

Not even joking there wasn't a serious REALLY bad challenge in that pathetic highlight video..

Especially the little love tap he gave zabeltas thigh after fairly going for the ball.. two of the other challenges he got the ball and he got sent off for a handbags clash.. so hardly never punished is he??

That tackle on Zabaleta was a deliberate attempt at a studs-up knee high tackle which should be a straight red. He was always pulling shit like that and he hardly ever got penalised for it.

Essien can't tackle. He is just too happy-go-lucky to go out to maim but his tackling technique is abject. He is a straight red ready to happen most of the time.

                    That one is a fact.

It became a whimsical quirk with Scholes. He'd stick his studs through someone's kneecap and Andy Gray would come out with something like...

"Oh we all know the wee man canny tackle! What is he like ey?"
