I'm of the opinion that UEFA's long term goal will be an American style superleague with rnachise buy-in instead of separate national associations and leagues. That's what FFP is about - separating permanently the haves from the have-nots in order to ensure that the most successful teams are the ones with the best marketing plans.

This sort of thing makes me sick:
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to square up to arch rivals City in a bid to clip their wings using Financial Fair Play guidelines.
Premier League chairmen will meet today to consider a range of potential financial controls to limit spending by top-flight clubs that would further mimic UEFA’s plans for FFP.
Oh really? NOW you want a fair fight! Now your spending power has been rivaled for the first time since the 1960s, after floating on the stock market to raise cash to spend on players, after being the most financially powerful sports team on the planet for decades, NOW is the time to curtail spending?
Someone above said it right. If you really want to level the playing field then you need to cap wages and transfer fees. If you want to link spending power to earnings then all you are doing is preserving a status quo.

If you capped transfer spend you really might get a wild card coming through and doing well in Europe like a Nottingham Forest or a Saint Etienne. There would be less transfer activity. It would be genuinely intriguing and would benefit football from the grassroots up.
UEFA just want Barcelona to bore the arse of everyone for years on end.

And watching Barcelona would be better than watching the likes of "bunker specialists" Chelsea, that's for sure.
