Nah, Richards is one of the most overrated defenders in the EPL right now. England need consistency, and whilst Richards may do well against the Wigans and Wolves of the World, he would get his shlt pushed in by France, Spain and Germany etc.

Glen Johnson is a much better option, the guy is mad fast.

But the decision to take Downing over somebody like Sturridge is a bit baffling?

Richards isnt overrated at all....He was first team for city up until he got injured and zabaletta was in great form

He is better defensivly than johnson, and great going forward...and is probably just as fast as johnson

Without Kompany in the middle, that whole bum ass defence gets exposed.

It's kind of like when Carvalho left Chelsea, the defenders got exposed as the bums they are when he left.
