Why are we wasting Smalling at RB he is hopeless in attack, Smalling > Evans in the centre of defence, I dunno why SAF still favours Evans, he was woeful last season.

I like him at RB. He was one of the best players on the pitch in that position in the Charity Shield he got up the pitch and caused problems, scored a goal too. I'd be very surprised if Fabio gets the nod at RB tonight.

Evans was terrible last season but the season before that he was brilliant, he's still only 23 which is young for a CB and like Smalling he played well in the Charity Shield. You have to give young players a chance and he's shown enough promise in the 09/10 season to say he should get another shot after a bad season last year. You can't give up on players after 1 bad season.

Smalling is too slow for that position imo, especially if we're playing at home Fabio should be ahead but I guess Smalling gives more of a presence in set-pieces.

With Evans something has gone wrong or not clicking anymore, never seen a young defender have such contrasting seasons and he's not started well this season either. Yeah don't shut him out completely but there's a better player (form) available in Smalling.
