I'm glad you start posting stats of other USA national teams such as u17, u20s.

    Here is England's u21 team history;

    1978 Semi Final
    1980 Semi Final
    1982 Champions
    1984 Champions
    1986 Semi Final
    1988 Semi Final
    1990 Failed to qualify
    1992 Failed to qualify
    1994 Failed to qualify
    1996 Failed to qualify
    1998 Failed to qualify
    2000 Group Stage
    2002 Group Stage
    2004 Failed to qualify
    2006 Failed to qualify
    2007 Semi Final
    2009 Final

You see all that failed to qualify/group stage bullshit? That was players like Lampard, Gerrard etc, our current crop. Look at the improvement though from '07, I'm sure '11 will read something positive too.

I'm sure it's the same for our u17 and u19 teams too. In fact, it's the same for Britain with boxing and probably every other sport. The government have been investing a lot in sport in this country in the past 10 years. For the first time ever we've had a world amateur champion in Frankie Gavin, which he won a few years ago.

Never won the u17 European championships before, never had successful youth teams as such. Players like Scholes weren't taken to South Africa and managers are too scared to invest in young talent.

Like I said, I know what it's like in America with football. You won't have grown men talking about the sport, instead it's the younger generation. The kids who enjoy the sport and will be responsible for helping it's growth over there.

From time to time guys leave early and enter the MLS draft. But that's really the best you're gonna get from that system.
Fuck any sort of college sport.

The only project that failed was england. They were hyped to the point where they actually believe they had a shot at winning the cup.

Nobody, not even me thought usa would come on top of the group stage.

England is suppose to be a "power house"

        Another failed project was mexico.

They had all those friendlys to prepare the young players for the world cup. Insted javier agguire kicked out jon dos santos and brought a bunch of old men.

Inwhich they pay for your tution if you play for them. At my friends school there's some kid in the dc united youth squad and the team is paying for him or some **** like that.
USA is hardly the hotbed for footballing talent, but at tournaments is where other teams from across the world can scout them. I think it was Adu who had Inter after him and they were willing to pay a 6-figure sum and he was only 10 years old at the time.

What I'm saying is at these tournaments, there are obviously no great American talents that are being scouted or offered lucrative deals. I bet Inter are glad they never pursued Adu further.

That's basically the only way u get scouted or unless you play for a decent high school and you're really good.

there a couple **** local leagues but not even the local ppl go there themselves, and if they do its just to throw a BBQ party at the park and nothing else.

Tbh ppl only join the league if they have spare money and want to do it for fun cause there's no future in it. Noone will look at you.

At least for college you can make local news.

England is and always will be a top country in football, whether it slips up or not - the talent is always there. The talent England had in South Africa was more than previous years, they were meant to be the golden generation.

In reality you had a team that didn't play well together. As Capello called 'em, ' spoilt b**** '.

England's new crop is different, they are technically superior players to what we have now. Look at Scholes for example, he is looked up to by some of the best players that have ever lived. People don't recognise him because they don't understand/realise what he's doing.

If you want you can compare England to Mexico in that they took the wrong team.

We do have guys in academies right now. Lletget is with West Ham, Guya and Renken are with Hoffenheim. Those are the only ones I can name off the top of my head, but if I sat down and went through the 4 big leagues I'd probably come up with 10-15.

How are you a top football nation when you haven't gotten past the quarterfinals since 1990?

                    Mexico's *****, I know this.

But that Dos Santos is only 20 and doesn't even play in La Liga.

Get ready for a big points bet if it's USA-Mexico in the Gold cup final.

(This one actually means something because the Confed Cup bid is on the line too, so you won't have the pleasure of playing against Jay Heaps and Kyle Beckerman )
