I'm glad you start posting stats of other USA national teams such as u17, u20s.
Here is England's u21 team history;
1978 Semi Final
1980 Semi Final
1982 Champions
1984 Champions
1986 Semi Final
1988 Semi Final
1990 Failed to qualify
1992 Failed to qualify
1994 Failed to qualify
1996 Failed to qualify
1998 Failed to qualify
2000 Group Stage
2002 Group Stage
2004 Failed to qualify
2006 Failed to qualify
2007 Semi Final
2009 Final
You see all that failed to qualify/group stage bullshit? That was players like Lampard, Gerrard etc, our current crop. Look at the improvement though from '07, I'm sure '11 will read something positive too.
I'm sure it's the same for our u17 and u19 teams too. In fact, it's the same for Britain with boxing and probably every other sport. The government have been investing a lot in sport in this country in the past 10 years. For the first time ever we've had a world amateur champion in Frankie Gavin, which he won a few years ago.
Never won the u17 European championships before, never had successful youth teams as such. Players like Scholes weren't taken to South Africa and managers are too scared to invest in young talent.
Like I said, I know what it's like in America with football. You won't have grown men talking about the sport, instead it's the younger generation. The kids who enjoy the sport and will be responsible for helping it's growth over there.
