Torres will have to stay if Liverpool can't get a replacement, they want him to honour his contract. I doubt Liverpool will be trying THAT hard to get a replacement because they know he has to stay if they can't get a replacement. And lets be honest, the only likely replacements they can get are Carroll at this short notice, and there's no way he's leaving in January.

Spurs apparently had monster £30+ million bids denied for Aguero and Llorente, so did Chelsea for Aguero so that rules them out of a move. Benzema is staying at Madrid because of Higuian's injury.
Only other players i can think of who would be willing to move and is avaliable is Carlton Cole and Nicola Anelka. I don't rate Carlton Cole myself but Liverpool have been linked with him in the past and if the Torres situation is THAT bad then they i can see them moving for him. Anelka on the other hand i think would be a good deal for Liverpool, however i don't see Chelsea wanting to part with Anelka and loads of cash for Torres, they would only part with a player like Sturridge and loads of cash.

Torres is an idiot anyways, why does he want to move when they just bought Suarez, he said he wanted the new owners to invest and they just have. Can he not see the potential for that strike partnership? He may as well stay til the end of the season to see if it works, if it does then great, if it doesn't then he can just move in the summer.

Liverpool were also rejected by Bayern Munich, they tried to get Mario Gomez. Also read that Torres left Melwood by Helicopter with 2 advisers same thing Van Der Vaart did when he joined Spurs.

Carroll would be an exceptional signing for Liverpool. If they were to sign him then letting Torres go isn't the end of the world. Suarez & Carroll is a great strike force.
