Hernandez is a goal-poacher, Rooney influences the entire field of play.

Of course Hernandez is so shit hot which is why he gets so many starts.

Why is it berbatov got like no touch of the ball first half, as soon as hernandez came in united scored the 3 goals and berbatov was all in the game.

Now I'm not saying hernandez took part of all the plays but I'm just saying something to look at.

Is hernandez just more then a goal poacher? Does hernandez influence the game by just being the pitch playing? Uniteds best chances came when hernandez was playing. The white pele didn't do much yesterday

Pretty much any striker can play on the wings, e.g. Anelka for Chelsea, Villa for Spain at times at the world cup. I had to put him in the team tbh.

Puskas played in the 50's though. It was a very different game back then. Not sure he'd be able to do a particularly good job on the wing tbh.

And anybody who think Hernandez > Rooney knows nothing about football.

Rooney has had:
- injury problems,
- a loss of form and confidence due to personal problems,
- fatigue, due to a long season last year followed by the world cup.

Rooney still has 10 assists this season so at least he's contributing. Hernandez has more goals, yes, but Rooney's been assisting Berbatov a lot and still puts in good performances (his performance against Blackpool was poor though).

Hernandez is a good prospect; he's got pace, makes excellent runs, a good finisher and is good in the air. But he's not particularly physical though. He has a bright future and could definitely develop into a world class player. But he's not better than Rooney.

And anybody who claims Hernandez is better than Torres needs a slap.

I am sorry what?? So the likes of Van Nistelrooy/Shearer and co proper strikers could do and play on the wing? they could obviously play there but would hardly be that effective.

when i say on the wings i meant wide midfield, not necessarily as a winger.

one thing that most, if not all strikers, have in common is good ball control and passing so it's not like strikers couldn't play well there. even the slowest, clumsiest strikers can play on the wings well, e.g. Dirk Kuyt, who has over 50 goals and 30 assists for Liverpool, most of them coming when he's played as a winger.

World class players like shearer or RVN could have played anywhere in midfield or attack in their prime. I'm not saying they played there, but it's not like they'd be crap there.

Now back to the topic. I had Ferenc Puskas at left-midfield in my 4-2-3-1 formation. Now if anybody knows anything about this ATG, then you'd know that he had a thunderous left-foot - a truly vicious shot. He was also only 5'7" so he's a bit to small to play as a centre-forward IMO. He also had good acceleration and dribbling so playing him at left midfield isn't a bad idea. In fact, he's a good fit.

Yea, he should do ok there.

He was good in the U-19 championships in the summer. France beat Spain in the final, I think he scored the winner (not sure).

Dani Pacheco was immense in that tournament. He should break into the Liverpool first team soon.

The same was said when ronaldo left united, noone gave united hope. Rooney stepped up and made united mad beast.

I will stand by my comment. Barca will not go to hell if messi left, everyone will say that and they will still do good. Barca has iniesta, xavi, villa. when ronnie left united they were left with rooney who at the time wasn't such a great goalscorer.
