This is one reason why yanks don't understand football. It's why yanks think that Hernandez is a better player than Rooney - they look at the number of goals scored without being able to account for how Rooney influences the game. If they don't have detailed statistics about every aspect of the game they find it hard to gauge quality based on intangibles not covered by statistics.

American sports are stats crazy, to a ridiculous degree. If football were an American sport they'd have to call a time-out after every goal kick so the players could whoop and cheer about how far it was.

All of hernandez goals have been crucial goals. They have been for either getting united the 1 point or the full 3 points.

The point is that you haven't actually seen him play and how he influences the game, so you can't judge how well he's been playing this season.
