Actually with Pep if he doesn't win the league this year and you go out in the quarters/semis of CL.. does he lose his job?

That would be one good season out of three

I actually think City have got it right in terms of actually backing a manager (wish United had done it) and they seem to have an overall plan..

But Mancini/Pellegrini got sacked unfairly for similar stuff imo

I think he would have to get a 4th season given how the club has already backed him

I still think he wins the league. And at the CL I would think it depends on who takes him out. Different feeling if Roma/Porto take you out as oppose to Barcelona/PSG

I think City squad is too good for them not to win the league.. but you never know..

Kane out for a couple months.. Good news for United..

Realistically and rationally, Sarri would get that time. United, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham would all give Sarri a good 3 years before giving up on him, with the expectation of finishing at least no less than 5th or 4th (depending on club) season one....

But realism and rationalism dont exist at Chelsea.

Higuain is rumored to be given an 18 month loan too. That is essentially Sarri banking on Higuain not being a Shevchenko, Torres, or Eto'o. He's literally saying, Higuain for 1.5 seasons will get Chelsea trophies and make champions league.

That's a very very tall order for a man with 6 goals in some 1400 minutes. With a guy creating more chances than Eden Hazard (Suso) at Milan. Milan is much worse than Chelsea but Italy != England either.

I also reiterate.... 2 core players from Sarri's Napoli team. No manager has received that. No matter a treble or a single trophy.

Sarri's fate will rest upon Higuain's shoulders. If he would have took up Batshuayi, Sarri at least has an excuse but with his old boy, there is jone.

Come next Christmas, Chelsea will either be rolling with good times or toiling in misery. Depending on Higuain. Tall, tall order fellas.

Cant imagine a new (top) striker coming in either with Higuain's wages and time on loan. Good luck to Sarri, he's really writing his own story unlike any manager bar Jose.

Also, I would like to see Tottenham take a punt on Batshuayi.

Seem like a proper set up where Bats would just latch on to any loose ball from Spurs 1 trillion chances a game and convert 50% of them lol

No one is gonna do a better job with City's squad than Pep, once he leaves it's downhill.

Maybe it will come to pass that Pep doesn't win a CL at city and we might get another manager and possibly win a CL with them, but no other manager out there can create dominant, consistent 90+ point juggernauts like Pep has done consistently throughout his career.

Winning a CL is all about fine margins so I wouldn't hold it against any manager if they don't win one at any specific time. There are things that have to go your way in the latter stages if you're to win it, Pep was unlucky with Bayern at the semi final stage in the Atletico tie (even with Barca the years they didn't win it).

Mancini and Pellegrini left in different circumstances. Pellegrini's performance in his last 18 or so months at the club was pretty appalling, we struggled to 4th playing some *****e football and whimpering to defeats against all the top teams. A lot of feeling sorry for him at the time because of the circumstances surrounding the Pep thing but he deserved to go, 100%. Mancini's sacking was a bit more harsh but our title defence that year was poor at best, we finished about 10 points behind a ***** United team. Again, you can see the reasoning.

Whether Pep wins the league/CL or not he has undoubtably turned us into one of the best teams English football has seen. We've had a couple of poor results over xmas but the performance levels are still top drawer for the most part. Under Mancini and Pellegrini the performance levels dropped massively, that's the difference.

                City will win the league.

Still maintain that their style is less taxing than Liverpool and their ****** press. They’ve just taken longer to burn out this time. VVD and the keeper are keeping them going for longer. But it’ll happen again imo.

That time they drew at Chelsea was very hard for them.

City just roll the ball about and then penetrate in spots.

Unlike Chelsea who just roll the ball about.

I can’t see how Chelsea could burn out like Napoli’s team were meant to. Probably a rough aproximation of the type of team Sarri wants but Chelsea probably will have a strong second half to the season against the big teams at least because there’s no intensity to their game whatsoever and they’ll probably sucker punch all the other big sides by being fresher.

We’ll still be held at home by Huddersfield though

I agree city probably will win in a close race but i don’t necessarily think it’ll be down to us burning out. Klopp has tweaked things and the team doesn’t press as relentlessly/constantly as in previous years.

Anyway this season will say a lot as to whether city are the best ever PL team, last year no one could keep up but now they have a dance partner who has a crazy points total along with them so being able to overcome that and retaining the title would be huge.

Kane out till the end of the season, sick.

now expecting eriksen to leave in the final hour of the window to Madrid/Barca and poch to jump ship at the end of the season and miss out on the CL spot by 1 point on the final day to arse, would be typical spuds

Klopp isnt Rogers. It IS pool though but if they can get a 2nd striker in, who is ony of those hybrid wide forward types. They could get some tactical rest for Mane and Firmino finally. That should really see them through to the end. Being able to rest those 2 players; they never get rest.

Pulisic would have been a great deal for them, because Mane would get rest and the pace threat would remain.

Spurs in for it. Out: Sissoko, Kane, Wanyama, Son
