I don't know where he is at the moment, but if I run across him, I'll tell him you said "hello." That said, Chappelle is primarily a stand-up comedian. Any acting on his part - at least so far - is purely incidental. Contrast that to Eddie Murphy who is also a comedian, but took on acting as a second, if not paralell career.
The formatted poll is limited to only 10 options. Consequently, it's imposisible to list every ebony thespian. So if your favorite is not included, don't get your pantyhose in a bind. Because I also wanted the poll to include a few "old-timers" for the sake of balance, I was forced to omit a few stalwart names...
And those who question Mos Def's acting...........should watch The Woodsman. other defning roles like Lackwanna blues and HBO features in coalition with his minor roles should be reviewed as well.
I look at it this way. Will Smith might have played the greatest impersonation role of all time in Ali...........that was incredible. However he's made so many ****ing ****ty movies that it cancels it out. That's why I'd be hesitant to rank him.
Mos Def playing Sgt. Lucas in the Woodsman was great. That might have been the greatest cop role I've seen since Oldman played Agent Stansbury in the Professional.
Oh and I have a feeling this topic is kind of racist, lol...
Although you made that comment tongue-in-cheek (see "lol"), it is, nevertheless, an interesting observation. The topic itself - although race-specific - is not racist in it's intention, although it did attract a couple of trolls who spouted racist drivel and innuendo between themselves. Astute forumers took the high road by ignoring their comments. At least until now...
