I am not really into video games. However, I recently started using my PS3 more and am getting a bit more into video games. Anyway, I stumbled upon some videos of this new virtual reality unit called Oculus Rift.

They sell the developer unit for $300. However, it is supposed to be released for commercial use by the end of 2014 or early 2015. Does anyone have any information on it, or does anyone have the unit?

That **** was obviously staged. Why the hell would you be afraid of a video game lol. No matter what happens it's just a ****ing screen and it's not going to kill you.

Bro, it's the real deal. This is virtual reality, so you are immersed in the game environment. I feel like it fools your brain into thinking you are in the game, given the visual proximity and also the audio component. So, as a result of the console, you are literally surrounded by this virtual environment; contained, even. I really want to purchase this now, but will probably wait until the console is officially released. I am definitely a proponent of virtual reality. It seems like a fun experience and I have always been fascinated by the "space" created in video game environments.

I just came back from a technology convention in Orlando where they had some rifts on demo.. While it is addmittedly very immersive, especially with noise canceling headphones, it also made me want to throw the **** up. I couldn't imagine using that thing for more than 10 minutes let alone have a gaming session.

Not only that, I wasn't just queesy while playing it, I felt sick for the next couple hours.

My PS4 and 60 inch is immersive enough for me.

This is gonna end up like this Tom Clancy book I read where you enter a virtual world, but then these hackers appear and when you die in the virtual world you also die in real life!

If I can recall back to my earlier years, the hackers showed up at a baseball stadium and shot it up. I think there's a whole series of Clancy books on the concept.
