When will the next-gen consoles come out?

Yeah, the console failure rates were ****ing atrocious. Everybody I know (myself included) had to buy at least two consoles this generation because their first never made it. I had a 360 and a PS3 that both died out on me and I'm currently on my 2nd 360 (slim model).

i have a 10 year old ps2 that i just checked and runs verbatim dvds perfectly, it takes a while to load the memorex ones but its not that bad
i wanted to check if my 15 year old ps1 worked, but i just remember i lost it in a bet, gah

My best friend bought the launch 60gb PS3 on the day it came out in 06. He got the YLOD last year. So his lasted 5 years.

It still sucks though, it's like if you were buying a time bomb.

My launch 360 lasted just over 8 months. It started making these super loud grinding noises whenever there was a disc being spun in the tray. Rather than wait for it to red ring on me I had it refurbished by Microsoft, then immediately sold it for a profit - As I knew it was only a matter of time before it started ****ing up on me again and I didn't want the hassle of sending it back every few months.

My launch PS3 started acting like a f*ggot shortly after the 1 year mark, like the 360, it began making horribly loud noises when a disc was in play, but even worse, it was being a selfish a*shole by absolutely refusing to give me my discs back on occasion. I'd stand there pressing the eject button for-****ing-ever and it wouldn't spit them back out to me.

Finally it ended up eating a friend's copy of 'Metal Gear Solid 4' which was on loan to me and that was all I was willing to take - I took it to a console repair guy at my favorite local gaming company and had him crack it open so I could get the disc back. He offered to try to fix it for me but by that point I had simply had enough, so I just sold him the malfunctioning piece of **** for $125 and walked away from gaming until the 360 slim came out.

My Gamecube, PS2, Dreamcast, N64, PS1, SNES, Genesis, and NES all still work fine though.
