You really dont need to do that. I have a pc built for friends to play on when they are over thats pretty low specs and runs everything really well. Built years ago for a few hundred. Great hardware is pretty cheap now anyway.
Personally mouse/keyboard > than any controller...
Im probably going to get BF3 for the PC, should be much better graphics wise and gameplay wise, although i'll miss playing coop with my mate online (hes on xbox).
Yeah PC gaming is much more expensive but only if you are the type that updates their system every month which is pointless imo. If you invest in a good gaming rig for a decent price it should last you at leat 2+ years....

My graphics card is a little then a year old and it maxes all games out and my cpu came out in 2009.

I might not max out Battlefield 3 because its seriously pushing what the pc can do but I'm damn 100 percent positive that Battlefield 3 will look better on my rig then it does on a console.
