Nintendo 3DS Price, Release Date

During Nintendo's presentation in Japan today, the company announced the 3DS will go on sale in Japan on February 26, 2011. The unit will cost 25,000 yen ($300). The system will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black.



Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that the 3DS will be out in March 2011 in its own territories and that it will confirm further details at a later date. Nintendo of America also confirmed the 3DS will ship in March 2011 and will provide more details later.

$300 for something that will have inferior graphics to the PS2/PSP, what a joke.

I almost want to say, this is a very bad move by Nintendo. Not the price, I actually predicted it would be $250 so i'm not really surprised.

The bad move is, why in March? Why not December 2010? Kids will go crazy for this and would want to get it for X-mas.

Then again, it is Nintendo. The company has been around and they know what they're doing I guess? Still would be better for X-mas 2010. imo. Oh well. Parents will spend their money on Playstation Move and Xbox 360 NATAL in December and I doubt a lot of people will spend $300 on a gaming system just 3 months after Christmas.

I think they just don't want to go up against Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo just wants to go on it's own now.

I'm definitely getting the 3DS when it launches.
