    Nintendo Wii Modding

I bought a Nintendo Wii off Craigstlist for $180. I'd have preferred a new Nintendo Wii instead of looking for a used one but none of the stores I went to have Wiis in stock. That **** is sold out everywhere.

Everywhere on the net, it says that Nintendo Wii
s whose lot number is above the number LU65XXXXX is hard to mod.

This Wii is under that (LU57XXXX) so my friend was able to mod it easily.

I downloaded games off the internet from sites like , , and demonoid then burned to DVD+R on 4x's speed with IMGBurn. I can watch DVD movies with my Wii and play Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis emulators. I installed homebrew channels and other custom game channels like Super Contra, Megaman 10 and Castlevania for example.

My Wii is 'soft-modded' the Wii. Basically, My Wii doesn't have to be opened up at all. All he did was use an SD memory card to mod the Wii. It's pretty easy. He gave me a couple files so I can use them to mod some other friend's Wiis. I just gotta look up the tutorials online.

If you don't have a Wii and want to play Wii games, try downloading the Dolphin emulator?

It plays Wii games on the PC.

Super Mario Bros Wii / PC

So this guy on YouTube has some gameplay of New Super Mario Bros. Wii running through a PC emulator called Dolphin. The footage has some obvious audio hiccups and the video freezes at 1:10 until 1:18. Beautiful nonetheless.

Other than that, it puts YouTube's new 1080p converter to good use and looks incredible. The creator of the video claims the game was running perfectly fine at 60 FPS, but using Fraps to record brought him down to 30 FPS. Once again, Fraps kills the fun! Oh well, it's still brilliant.
I've downloaded and burned these games so far:

    Red Steel II
    Boom Blox
    Wii Sports
    Wii Sports Resort
    Rabbids Go Home
    Mario and Sonic Olympic Games
    Muramasa
    Okami
    Punch Out
    Super Paper Mario
    Residen Evil 4: Wii Edition
    Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
    Super Mario Kart
    Excitebots
    Need 4 Speed Nitro
    Need 4 Speed Pro Street
    X-Men Origins: Wolverine
    Super Mario Galaxy
    The New Super Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
    Metroid Trilogy
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
    Sonic and The Secret Rings
    Sonic and The Black Knight
    Sonic Unleashed
    Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing
    Super Smash Bros. Brawl
    Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up
    Samurai Showdown Anthology
    Tatsunoku Vs. Capcom
    Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
    The Conduit
    No More Heroes
    No More Heroes 2
    Prince of Persia: Rival Swords
    Mario Party 8
    Madworld

Only games I've really played so far is Super Mario Galaxy and Red Steel II. I bought the Wii Motion Plus just to be able to play Red Steel II. This game is pretty awesome.

One thing I learned about the games I downloaded is that I should mostly only try to download NTSC format games because when I use PAL format games, they end up black-n-white on my downstairs TV. They work fine on my upstairs TV though.

If you can get someone to do it then its no problem. Your basically getting free games so its worth it to at least try to learn one part of the process.

The easiest being how to burn games.

Hold it side-ways like you would when playing the New Super Mario Bros.

Yeah I did all that not long ago.. But then I sold the Wii because it was whack and had the graphics of a ps2. PS3 is definitely the way to go. I sold the Wii after I got done playing Resident Evil.. cause the system got boring easily.

My Wii is modded and it collects dust because the Wii sucks donkey ****. That Red Steel 2 game is horrible and the first one had a better story-line. I actually ran out and spent 21 bucks on that wii-motion plus **** and it didn't even feel like it made much of a difference anyways.
