    Will the ps3 play .mkv files?

    If I download a blu-ray video that is in .mkv file will the ps3 play it?

    nope, til mkv support comes in an update, you need to convert it to avi or mp4.....or stream it from your comp with tversity or something like that.....

      Do you have a program that converts it pretty quickly and without too much quality loss? When I mean quickly I don't mind if its 1-2 hours without any quality loss. If its more then that I might be able to deal with it. And is their any point of me to convert things that are in high quality anyways cine my tv is old and **** and isn't even hd or flat screen...

        I used to play mkv videos streaming to my ps3 using tversity, you needed a couple other things though. I think FFshow and haali media splitter?

        After a ps3 update tversity stopped working properly for me though. I dont know if it's been fixed since then. I just deceided to buy a videocard with HDMI out and hook it up to my my tv so I can just play whatever and not have to deal with tversity anymore.

            It doesn't actually convert anything (as far as a gather) and works a treat.

              No point in downloading HD content if you haven't got a HD TV. I dont download HD and i've got a HD TV, because it takes too long.
