duck under an opponents jab and let a right hook go to his ribs, a left hook to the area on the oppisit side of the body is more effective (liver) but either will hurt if you have good heavy punches
There's a sweet spot right on the midline on either side, right above the belt and just on the legal line for a shot. Drive it hard and you'll hit the kidney legally; your opponent will collapse like a wet burrito. I throw it as a shovel hook in a weave, or as a short, twisting hook point-blank with my elbow on my hip.
Don't use this punch on anyone you want to remain friends with. Seriously. I read about this punch on a website about Dempsey, and when I hit a guy with it, we had to stop sparring and I ended up apologizing to him a half dozen times. It really hurts.
Have to be careful with the punch fraidy mentioned. He's absolutely 100% correct about all of it. Remember this, though - if you throw that and miss and your opponent is decently knowledgable, it is safe to assume he will be...well, angry is an understatement. Make sure it connects, otherwise, find some ropes to lean on because you are going to be in a slugfest.

what about fast bodyshots like a jab. and straight left is easy to hit the stomach but not the sides.
