    Head Slip

So a couple of guys at my gym can do this crazy slip. Their hands stay in their guard, and their head just . . . MOVES. . . from one side to the other. Not turning; it's like their neck isn't attached to their shoulders.

The body doesn't move; the guard doesn't move. Only the head moves, from side to side. Like, about 6 inches of travel.

I've been working on this all day and **** me; I have NO IDEA how to do this. Is it one of those things like raising one eyebrow? Some people can, and some can't? Is it a question of mastoid / trap flexibility? It's almost like something out of poppin' & lockin', old-school breakdancing.

Can anybody here do this? Further, should I be working on it? My concern would be getting hooked when my neck was that far out of joint, already.

Stand infront of a mirror. Get a piece of masking tape and put it verticaly right down the middle of the lirror at the hieght of your head.

Get in gaurd position and as quickly and compacted as posibble move your head to the other side of the tape. Keep your shoulders stationary, slip from side to side. Youll find it.

      You're a ****in' genius.

"Compacted." That's the trick. If I keep my chin down, it's easy. It only LOOKS -- from the front -- like your head is floating. Jesus, I nearly pulled my own ****ing skull off this afternoon, sitting in a chair trying to make this work. Thanks.

Rockin' pretty much hit it right on the head. When I was learning this for martial arts, my instructor told me to always look forward, but when your in your guard, try to make your chin touch your shoulder. If you remember to look forward you wont mess it up.

I have the best head movement in the game. I never get hit in my head. Ever. You better come at my body because nobody hit me in the head. My head movement is ridiculous.

Your head movement is not the only thing that is rediculous. Only 2 fights under your belt and you dont get hit? Care to rephrase your original statement?

No i wont rephrase my statement. I spar with golden glove champions, jr. olympic champions, and all kinds of good fighters. My head movement works great against all of them. It has worked great in my 2 fights. I absolutely feel i have very good head movement. So no i dont want to rephrase that statement at all.
