    Grtting gassed quickly

InWhat do I need to focus on to improve not getting gassed so quicky?

I always notices during pads that first 1 minute to minute half I am explosive and alert but once that 2 minute mark hits my punches get slower, less techniqual and my legs are in the mud. I breath heavy and literally cant move or react to anything. It mostly during pads cause of the constant workload where as in sparring you can pace yourself more by moving in my experience.

I already to aerobic 35 minutes runs three times a week.
I suppose I need to work on my anaerobic endurance or more my muscle endurance/ strength endurance?

And what exercises would you recommend

Surely it has to be lack of endurance or strength endurance,no?

How else do you keep being explosive for the whole 3 minutes

Ofcourse you need endurance and strength, but I know so little of your experience or if you are even knowledgeable about your breathing.

But 1 thing that I do know: If you want to be explosive for every round then you have to train that way, in everything that you do. Shadowboxing, on the bags, sparring, running in the morning.... you'll get out, on fight night, exactly what you put in. So bust your a$$ in the gym weeks/months before your fight. You do that and you will know that you are ready to step up and fight. What is your experience level?...….Rockin'

You have to be in relax mode or you will gas yourself out.Controling your breathing is the key.I think everyone goes through that stage in the beginning. All I ever heard was control your breathing from coaches.

This right here, IMO. Is this all the aerobic you do? You should do about five to seven miles every other day.

Or, the best, in my opinion, is to do plyometrics. This is used for boxing, too. Here you have a guy explaining why it's good for training. The second one gives the best pure explanation of how plyometrics are helpful and some good exercises. The third I just threw in there for the sake of aerobic weight training. I don't know if you do that, but you can easily create your own routine and set of exercises based on these principles.

I actually just now finished my plyometric workout, so I thought I'd respond

P.S. If you do this already, then never mind. I just thought I'd put in my 2?just in case you're doing something different.

He may need to pace himself also, boxers have a multitude of gears. Maybe some upper body specific circuits could help him out, a boxer should really in my opinion be comparable to a navy seal 'You should be able to complete their fitness test's with ease'.

But the thread starter is on the right track, with anaerobic endurance 'Lactate threshold training'.

I'm no expert but you need cardio. I would suggest running at least 30 miles a week and even do some speed training as if you were training to win a mile run. Run quarter mile laps as fast as you can. Take a 2 min break, run another one. Repeat about 10 times. Do this twice a week in addition to the 30+ miles and I guarantee you will build some wind.
Other than that skipping rope or perhaps squat thrusts also build good cardio

Train what is failing. If you can’t keep up the intensity On the pads for 3 minutes, start there. Do a series of high energy 4 minute rounds on the pads or heavy bag and keep doing them. Running is probably a very good thing to do but it’s not directly addressing the problem. All the running in the world isn’t going to keep your arms from burning out while hitting the pads.

What I am going to say is going to sound like terrible advice but trust me that this will help you in the long run.

You need to spar against someone near your weight that is better than you that fights at a very high pace. They need to be close to your weight so you don't have a built in excuse as to why you got your ass kicked.

There is a huge chance nothing is going to motivate you to push yourself past your current limit aside from getting bested by someone else because you could not keep up the pace.

You set a goal from that point onward that you are not going to be outworked. That is what helped me in achieving the mindstate needed to push out those rapid bursts continuously because it is very much a mental fatigue.

You sound like you are in great shape so your body will not fail you. You just need to be put in more situations where you are forced to see how much you can handle.
