Balance- back straight up or hunched over?

Title says it. For balance while boxing, is it best to be upright or slouched over?

Without a doubt its keeping your back straight. Hunching will get you tagged trust me and its harder to manoveur. Keeping your back straight allows better balance, pivoting, head movement and stepping back as well as allowing a better center of gravity. Your legs are also aaligned and synchronised with your upper body so youre not dragging your feet with your upper body.

Agreed. Proper Posture and body position is important in all sports and everyday life. Some boxers that I trained at before covid liked to shrug forward and hunch like a cobra and their head was too easy to reach, easy to read their movements and react due to them beingng out of position.
