Hello, I’m just wondering. My guard position I usually hold both hands around cheek level so I can easily block my body if need be, but also protect my face at the same time. I keep my elbows tucked in and on my ribs. Why do some boxers have hands lowert? And also, some have their rear hand on the cheek, but the lead arm also extended. Wouldn’t both at cheek level be best for protection, and also shooting out punches and defense? Maybe it’s just me that feels this?

There are different guards.
Yours, with the hands at cheek level and the elbows tight against the body, is perfectly fine.
Others might prefer to use the Philly shell, or a long guard, or even a cross-arm guard.
