    Leg strength

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that leg strength is the foundation of performing boxing moves better such as punching, ducking punches, slipping, and overall footwork? Myth or fact?

    I think it’s a fact. Your legs are what carry you, help you move around the ring, etc. ducking punches is like a squat motion; slipping is a mixture of a hip hinge and dropping your knees; (you get the idea here)

      The fighter’s legs have to endure an immense dynamic load during a fight or sparring. The legs provide for the speed and maneuvering effectiveness of his movements, and often for the initial impulse, the power of which influences the power of the blow. With correct leg movement, the fighter becomes invulnerable to his opponent. The strength and endurance of the calf muscles are especially important during protracted fights. Strong legs provide the entire body with energy, while weak legs make you physically exhausted and get you out of breath.

      Therefore, every athlete engaged in striking-based martial arts, whether a novice or a professional, must devote a lot of time and attention to training his legs. It is important not only to build your muscles but also to practice the leg movement technique that will bring you closer to victory.

      An innovative training device for real fighters

      Meet an exclusive product – X5 leg simulator, designed to make your legs strong and sturdy, and movements correct and swift. This is the world’s first simulator for pumping the feet and calf muscles in dynamics. A “reactive foot” is what an athlete gets when using the X5.

      Our feet consist of large muscles that connect them to the ankles and are responsible for movement. The small muscles are located deeper. Their task is to stabilize the body when the foot hits the surface and support its arch. The foot muscles pick up the first load from any movement of the legs and body during the fight. If your feet are weak, the movement momentum will be also weak.

      During a warmup or sparring, the athlete develops leg muscles by performing certain exercises. But most of the effort is required to master the technique of movement, which is to first step on the toe, and not on the heel. The problem of the correct walk is often encountered not only among beginners, but also among professionals.

      The X5 trainer is designed in such a way that you simply cannot step on your heel. Practicing your moves with a hook&jab pad or a punchbag, or by shadow-fighting, you will solve three main problems in a short time, which prevent fighters from winning:

      Pump your feet;

      Master the correct technique of movement on tiptoe;

      Pump your calf muscles in dynamics.

      The working principle and advantages of Х5

      The training device is worn over your footwear, it will suit any foot volume. The lower part of the device will not allow your heel to touch the floor. In the beginning, you should fasten Х5 in approximately the middle of your foot. After some time, when you feel that your calves have become stronger, you can increase the load by moving the device closer to your toe.

      The training sessions with the device will let the fighter move in a correct manner and understand the advantages of toe-walking. Such a technique will increase your swiftness and strength, and most importantly, the control over the course of the fight. Already after a few training sessions with Х5, your movements will become easy, springy, and flexible, and your blows will acquire swiftness and additional power. You can carry the training device with you and practice with it in any suitable place, both on even and rough surfaces.

      The Х5 training device: Your legs are strong, you are invulnerable!

      IMPORTANT
      Your feet will experience this kind of load for the first time in your life, so we advise you to start with short-term training sessions until you feel mild muscle fatigue. Do not overload your feet.

        The first thing that any fighter should learn to work through is minor muscle fatigue. He'll definitely encounter it daily...?Rockin'

          Yes. This cannot be emphasized enough. Personally I don't even think a beginner should start working on technique and throwing punches until his/her legs are well conditioned and strong. The difference it makes is HUGE. Attention should be paid to strength of the legs and conditioning of the legs.

          Sample workouts:

          10x100m sprints with 30 seconds rest between each sprint
          5x5 barbell back squats, 3x5 deadlifts
          20xAMRAP sets of bodyweight squats
          5km run at a challenging pace up a large hill/mountain.
          5x5 dumbbell split squats
          1km jog, 2km running backwards, 3km of sprint for 15 seconds jog for 15 seconds

                    In boxing strength of legs matters a lot. As following my coach advises i am training hard to attain power and stability in legs. For defending the kick of my competitor i commonly wear groin guards which are helpful in protecting my groin area and supporting my overall body. But their quality matters a lot, as they provide safety to sensitive areas of body. I buy them from Aqf Sports . My coach advises me to pay attention on both attacking and defending techniques.
