16, been in a few street fights before, slightly overweight, I don’t want to tell my whole backstory so if anyone could just tell me things to do it’d be very appreciated.

Gonna start boxing next week? How do I prepare?

All you need to do is join a boxing gym (preferably a good one), show up, work hard and listen. If you really want to put in some work beforehand go for a few runs, if you dont run much start slow and build each time.

Be prepared to listen and trust. You're going to get worn out, at your limit, angry, and looking for ways out. Many people start finding excuses like thinking their coach is wrong (huge one). Don't forget why you're doing it and stick with it. Once you get some conditioning and aren't getting blown up every session, you'll find a lot of mental clarity. Things will start making sense. You'll feel in control. Your goal right now is to get to that point.

Be humble and be prepared to work. The beginning of anything new is the hardest part, learning the fundamentals doesn't appear glamorous, but trust that everything is necessary to building something better.
What do they say? A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

All good advice here. A lot of people drop out after a few sessions. The number one thing is CONSISTENCY. You just gotta keep at it, it will take a while before things start to make proper sense
