Thank you,
I would like to, I love the sport of boxing and it's history, I have no desire to turn pro or anything. I'm happy w my field of work.
Looking good in the ring man! How long have you been boxing?
thank you, I've boxed for about 11 years now that I've counted. It wasn't until the last 2 years that I got a lot better, I met this pretty high level pro and we became friends and sparred all the time (200 rounds a summer). at first he tuned me up and went easy, I got better and started holding my own which gave me confidence so I'd spar everyone after that and even broke a few of my former opponents ribs. Then I really started watching old tapes on boxers and that's when my Crusade in the history section began.
I'm pretty casual though, I really don't train all that much. I just do a bit to stay fit.
Also, the gym I went to for years was run by Syd Vanderpool, he was really good - fought Bernard Hopkins and went 12 rounds, was tuning Jeff Lacy up pretty good before he got stopped, and he beat Glen Johnson. He was a lot bigger than me but we would spar in moderation, I noticed how I couldn't tell what he was gonna do even if he stood right in front of me, which really emphasized the importance of skill and knowing how to fight, much more so than things like speed and strength. A good pro has found a way to hide everything he does. He's a master of deception.
