    Oxygen Mask

I had been using an oxygen mask to make the intensity of my workouts greater. Is there any real benefit to using them?

I think it mimics the effect you get from training at high altitude. Some firemen at my gym train with them but that's for obvious reasons.

Are you talking about one of these?

Because if you are, Ive read that they don’t do anything.

It’s a fad. I’ve seen a few guys wearing these at the gym. It’s marketing genius. Science says it just doesn’t really do anything for you. There’s no real benefit.

Gotta disagree here - being better able to identify the people I want to avoid at the gym is DEF a benefit.

Haha, indeed those. Then they will be excluded from my workouts from now on.

i dont see the big deal for them.unless its a special application need. for example the gentleman who said he saw firemen wear it... even military special operators i can see why. look at mikey garcia he did that snac high altitude training and still got whooped.

Yes it does help. It's helped my stamina a ton. Mimics high altitude areas.

Its the worst piece of training equipment ever invented.
complete BS throw it in the garbage.

Seems like an effective training tool to me.

Only the mask group had significant improvements in ventilatory threshold (VT) (13.9%), power output (PO) at VT (19.3%), respiratory compensation threshold (RCT) (10.2%), and PO at RCT (16.4%) from pre to post-testing. The trends for improvements in VT and PO at VT between groups were similar to improvements in RCT and PO at RCT, but did not reach statistical significance (VT p = 0.06, PO at VT p = 0.170). Wearing the ETM while participating in a 6-week high-intensity cycle ergometer training program does not appear to act as a simulator of altitude, but more like a respiratory muscle training device. Wearing the ETM may improve specific markers of endurance performance beyond the improvements seen with interval training alone.

I'm pulling the trigger on this one which adds the filter, a timely option if I've ever seen one.
