How important are pull ups as a conditioning exercise for preparing one's self for boxing? Since pull up is primarily a pulling exercise that develops pulling muscles, would it really be useful for boxers when boxing doesn't consist of any pulling movement, outside of clinching?

Are pull ups useful for boxers? If yes, how and by how much?

Hell yeah pull ups are important. Only p.ssies dont do pull ups and thats 100! I dont care if you are a Pro boxer, Amateur, or a Cardio boxer. If you are not incorporating pull ups in your gym routine, you're wasting space in that gym.
I do a strength day every other day with my kids and calisthenics is our bread and butter. Lots of modified burpees incorporating push ups and pull-ups. Once that starts to get easy, do more reps and/or add a light weighted vest, wrist weights, or ankle weights.
Pull ups build a lot of core strength not only back muscle. The bicep also gets stronger...

A good exercise for anyone in any sport. I don't do them anymore since I kept getting tendonitis but I always tried to vary my grips and hand spacing.
