    My coach tells me to bend at the hips.

    How is this done properly? I’m so used to bending at my knees idk what is meant by bending at the hips

    It means the BJ is no longer going to get you by. He wants you up off your knees and over the table.

      This doesn't make sense. What kind of coach says something without showing you how to do it and guiding you through it until you do it correctly? I hope you're not paying this person.

        It depends on what he is teaching you and you are not explaining that. The only thing i can think of is if hes teaching you how to weave under punches which requires bending forward slightly at the hip but keeping your head from going past your knee.

        Or it can be a slip which is about is a slight bend at the hip at either side, snapping back to stance. To make a long story short, you need to elaborate more without giving the full method of what you are being taught.

          This is likely it, the move at the point of the slip involves several parts of your body but usually people say the hips, often due to someone leaning back to avoid incoming punches when there might be an opportunity to go under, but yea more information is needed

              Basically he says that whenever I’m in a stance, at all times my hips should be bent back like a squat, but not that exaggerated. To shorten, it’s basically similar universal athletic stance, but at an angle for boxing. Hips and butt back, soft bend in the knees on toes, and Torso is also straight. Is he right that I should be like this at all times?

                It means you’re to stiff and scared to get hit. This is why your hips are tight, you’re trying to lean away from any strike possible but the only thing you get is short exhausting arm punches
