It starts in the fists. Your fists shouldn't be clenched, which in the beginning seems counterintuitive since there are gloves around them that you can grab onto.

If you can relax the fists then it will help with relaxing the chain up through the arms and into the shoulders.

First step is really being aware though. As you practice more things get easier and more comfortable, and you start to think much more.

In the beginning I would sort of focus on 3 main things when sparring, 1. Relax 2. Focus 3. Breath

Try to actively relax yourself in the ring, make sure you stay focused and then get your breathes as being tired makes you less comfortable and relaxed.

I'd implement some yoga , dont learn from youtube, goto some classes and learn. try a few different arts, what I did was do a month of unlimited at 3 different places, 1 was vinyasa flow, 1 was ashtanga, the other was bikram. bikram was the hardest but the one that I feel helps the most for boxing strength, there's a bikram move at the end of the beginner sequence that puts your face on the ground and your legs straight in the air, works your core unlike anything else. keep an eye on my youtube channel, I'll post a boxer yoga vid, in which I actually reinjured my damn hamstring which popped for the first time 3 weeks ago (doing the same move) ...when you heal up and it doesnt hurt, its easy to forget injuries. just be careful with the wide leg forward folds. if you hear a pop, back tf off. so that you can be more receptive of their teachings, wim hof before yoga.

Drop your shoulders and let them loose until you need to fire the muscles. Practice relaxing when you're working the bags and what not. Practice relaxing when you're running or really doing anything. . Walking or pushing a grocery cart. Drop the shoulders! Be aware of tension building in the upper body and work to keep it away.
