Lol, this varies ALOT in people. At my gym, this kids been going for like a month and is getting for his first fight in a few weeks. Another has been going for about 6-8 months and still hasn't fought yet. It all depends on how good you are and if you even wanna fight.

A year and four months is longer than most, I would say. But yes, it varies. Especially if you don't go to the gym everyday.

My first fight was after about 2 months of training. Stopped the kid in about a minute and a half. About 6 or 8 months and 3 fights later I ended up fighting the reigning national champion at 119lbs at the Silver Gloves. It was Tarrick Salmaci and he had around 80 fights at the time. It was a close fight but he got the decision. When they first told me about the guy that I was fighting I was like what the hell man! I was supposed to fight in the B class but my the manager of our gym moved me up to A class. It looked like a blow out on paper but once we got throwing it was a really close fight. I would love to see it on video now, I was like 15 years old at the time.
