    first fight recovery/training

Had my first fight last Saturday, learned a lot but definitely got my bell rung. Doc says I'm concussed, dizzy when I get into and out of bed. I'm laying off sparring for a few weeks until the dizziness subsides.

Any one have tips on recovery and training while concussed? Is it better to just chill out until my symptoms go away? Definitely focusing on defense for the foreseeable future haha.

If we're going on a week and you still have some symptoms definitely got a minor concussion.

Try to stay super hydrated, eat really well, get a good amount of rest, and don't do anything too strenuous. Probably next week I'd get back into the boxing gym, but stay away from sparring or any contact to the head for a couple more weeks.

Strengthen your neck muscles to protect better from concussions, and also work your defense and footwork more!

Thanks for the tips, that sounds right to me. What do you suggest to strengthen the neck?

It's nice to see that a bad loss hasn't ruined your spirit and it's good that you're wanting to get back in there asap, I wish you the best for your next fight but do be careful and make sure you don't over do anything until you're back to your usual self. I know that can be hard, I currently have to deal with bad ankles after every hard workout I do and the next day I want to go at it even harder but I know I can't lol.

Anyhow, back to you. The neck is a tricky one because if you **** with that then you can't walk. So I'd suggest leaving everything until you get the all clear from the doc. But yeah, chill out until your symptoms go because who wants to train when you're not your usual self?
