i got some nike cross trainers...those are comfortable and thin so you can sparr and move around in them..
i dont like tennis shoes because of the heels, you'll get lazy and wont stand on your toes, you'll rely on the heel for support, thin sole shoes make you stay on your toes
I like new balances for jumping rope and normal working out.
Sparring, I got a pair of Asics.
I don't like jumping rope with my boxing shoes- feels like smacking my knees with a baseball bat, but they're not bad for staying on my toes in the ring.
I like the look of those lonsdales.
May look into crosstrainers for my next pair of workout shoes.
My asics have lasted years already and still look brand new, i take care of 'em.
you hsould jumprope in the ring or mats...so yuour legs get used to the padding..its alot harder to jumprope on the mat then on the floor because the mats give and makes you push off your legs...helps you get used to moving around on padding instead of concrete..
basically you should do everything in the ring so your used to it..
have you ever noticed your legs last long on concreete then soft surfaces?

Would this mean it would be better to skip on like those foam puzzle peice mats in karate dojos or on grass or sand for that matter, (unfortantly I dont have access to a ring yet)
I have bad feet & legs. If I jump on a surface too soft, it puts a lot of pressure on my knees. I'll try mixing some soft surface skipping into my routine, but I'm pretty sure it'll just make the tendonitis flare up in my knees. Generally I don't have a problem with movement in the ring, but then as a heavyweight, i'm not bouncing around the whole time either.
As far as your question on jogging- i usually have to give up on jogging due to severe pain in my joints long before getting winded or tired. Jogging on soft surfaces, like sand, is generally a lot more pleasant experience for me.
